Club admins reach every crew

  • NewAdmin → Club now lists every crew in your club with its type. A club admin can change any crew's type from that list, so you can label Sport, Community, BCS and your own crews in one place.
  • FixedClub admins can open the admin pages of crews they don't paddle with. Pick one from the team menu under Other crews to manage its events, roster and settings. Before, those pages said they couldn't be found.
  • BetterThe open-seat setting sits at the top of Admin → Club. Big clubs get a search, a team filter and a club-admins-only filter on the member list, which shows 50 people at a time.

Blog guides for your role in the crew

  • BetterFind blog guides grouped for paddlers, coaches and club admins, with clearer advice on seat positions, lineup changes, practice attendance and managing several crews. Every article now has its own page to read and share.

Bring guests to team events

  • NewBring guests to pot-lucks, volunteer days and other team events. Claim a slot, then add your guest's name on the event page. Guests add to the count of who's coming and leave the slots for your crew, so you can bring someone to a full sheet. Organisers add guests from the admin event page.

Switching plans works again

  • FixedSwitching plans from the Billing tab failed with an error before the dialog could show a price. It works now, for moving between Pro, Club and Club Plus and for paying Pro yearly. Starting a new plan was never affected.
  • FixedA failed card payment now reaches the billing contact by email, and a paid invoice is recognised on our side the moment Stripe records it.

Print from the Android app

  • FixedIn the Android app, Print on the manifest opens your phone's print sheet once you have the app update that is reaching Google Play now. Before that update it points you to Email to me, which works today.

Club and Club Plus on the Billing tab

  • NewClub and Club Plus sit on the Billing tab next to Pro, billed once a year. A club admin starts either one with a card, and a club already on Pro moves up from the same page. Moving up shows what your card is charged today before you confirm. Moving down credits the unused part of your old plan against your next invoice. A club that pays by cheque or bank transfer can still write to us for an invoice.
  • FixedIn the phone app, a link to dragonsignup.com could open in your phone's browser and ask you to sign in again. Those links now open inside the app, where you're already signed in.

Who's going lists in sign-up order

  • FixedOpen an event twice and the names under who's going could come back in a different order. They now list in the order people signed up, earliest first.

More admin seats, and a way to move Pro to yearly billing

  • NewA crew paying for Pro by the month can switch to yearly from the Billing tab. The confirmation shows the amount your card is charged today before you agree to it.
  • BetterPaid plans hold more admins: 8 on Pro, 20 on Club and 50 on Club Plus, up from 5, 15 and 30. Free still has 2. A club with two co-captains on each crew and a couple of officers now fits on Club.

Every crew in its own colour

v0.23.0

  • NewOn My Events, each crew has a colour. Calendar chips carry it as a bar down the left edge with the crew's name underneath, and the team chips above the calendar show the same colour beside each name. Chips drop the part of the name every crew shares, so Lakeshore Thunder reads Thunder, and the event title gets two lines instead of being cut off.
  • BetterA team admin who opens the Billing tab is told that club admins manage billing, with their names and a link to the Club page. It used to show an error code.

Clubs with more than one crew

v0.22.0

  • NewYou can see every crew in your club: its schedule and who's going. On My Events, chips above the calendar and the list pick one crew or all of them, and Whole club brings in the crews you're not on. When you're on more than one crew, each event names its crew.
  • NewClub admins can open spare seats to the whole club. On Admin → Club, set a window of 24, 48 or 72 hours. Inside it, a club member who isn't on a crew can take a seat on that crew's practice while one is still open. A full boat has no waitlist for them, and whoever takes the seat keeps it. On the roster and the lineup rail they carry their own crew's name.
  • NewEach crew has a type: Sport, Community, BCS, ACS, General, or a word of your own. Set it when you create the crew, or later in Settings.
  • NewYou can change a team's name, sport and time zone in Settings. Changing the time zone moves no events; your 7pm practice stays 7pm.
  • BetterThe extra paddler a member brings is a +1, so it reads differently from a club member who came from another crew.

Clear the out mark from the lineup

v0.21.4

  • BetterWhen you sub someone out of a locked lineup, the app marks them out for that event and now says so as you do it. If they weren't a no-show, the warning box on the lineup offers Clear the mark beside their name. Their seat is untouched either way.
  • FixedThe lineup warning said a paddler had marked themselves unavailable when a sub-out had set it. It now says they are marked unavailable and still hold their seat, which is all the app knows.

Printed manifest keeps its margins

  • FixedThe printed manifest keeps a margin around the sheet even when your browser's print dialog has margins set to None.

Suggest seats only people who are going

v0.21.2

  • FixedSuggest now seats only people who are going: anyone signed up for the event or marked as coming, plus anyone you placed by hand. It used to fill empty seats from the rest of the roster, so a practice with 18 confirmed could end up with 22 in the boat.
  • FixedThe printed manifest no longer turns grey from partway down the sheet when you print it from a phone.
  • FixedIn the iPhone app, Print on the manifest did nothing. Until the next app update it points you to Email to me, which works today; the update adds the print sheet itself.

The tour video from every How it works link

  • BetterHow it works, in the site header, footer and menu, now opens the 98-second tour video. It used to jump to the three setup steps, which told you nothing about what the app does.

Print or email the manifest from any lineup

v0.21.0

  • NewEmail to me, on the manifest page, sends the crew sheet to your own inbox. Forward it to the officials or drop it in the crew chat without finding a printer.
  • BetterPrint manifest is on every lineup, open or locked. Until now it only appeared after you locked the boat, so a freshly built lineup had no way to the sheet. If you have unsaved seats, it saves them first.
  • BetterLock is the only freeze now. The separate Submit manifest step is gone: it never sent anything anywhere, and it blocked the sub-in a locked lineup exists for. A lineup you had submitted shows as locked.
  • BetterThe printed and emailed sheet carries the DragonSignUp name and website.
  • FixedThe billing page no longer offers an upgrade to Pro to a club already on a Club plan.

A second club admin

  • NewA Club tab under Admin lists everyone in the club and who the club admins are. A club admin can make someone else a club admin there, or take it away. Until now only the person who created the club held that role.
  • BetterThe roster marks club admins, and no longer offers Demote on them, since a club admin runs every team whatever their row on one roster says.
  • BetterA club admin counts as one admin toward your plan's limit. Someone who is also a team admin counts once.

Regattas for every admin

v0.19.0

  • NewTeam admins can now create regattas and add races, not only club admins. The coach who runs the race day sets it up.
  • FixedAdmin → Regattas showed an error code to a team admin who wasn't a club admin. It now loads for them, and a real access problem shows a plain message instead.
  • BetterThe Boats page tells team admins that boats belong to the club and only a club admin can add or change them. Every boat on the list can still be used in a lineup.

Race day in any boat

  • FixedEvery heat on a race day can use the same boat. The double-booking check that stops two practices claiming one hull at the same time no longer fires on regatta lineups, so the second heat's lineup is no longer refused as already assigned.
  • NewSeat a lineup in a boat your club doesn't own. The boat picker on a lineup now lists host-provided hulls by size beside your own boats, for regattas where the host supplies them. You get the same seat map, balance panel and seating suggestions.

The Captain's Council

  • BetterFounding Clubs is now the Captain's Council: the same offer under the name it should have had. Join to help create team software designed for dragon boat clubs, share what your club needs and get hands-on early access. The band on the pricing page says what the council costs after the free season.

Plans for bigger clubs, and a 98-second tour

  • NewTwo plans for clubs running several crews. Club holds 200 members and 15 admins for $360 a year. Club Plus holds 500 members and 30 admins for $720 a year. Both include personal setup: we import your roster and set up your first season with you. Write to us from the contact page and we move your club over.
  • NewA 98-second video tour sits at the top of the See the app page. It walks through sign-ups, waitlists, seating and race lineups.
  • BetterThe Captain's Council can take a club of any size. A council club spends its free season on the plan that fits it, then pays $120 a year on Pro, $240 on Club or $480 on Club Plus for two years.
  • FixedWhen you cleared the roster cap on a practice to type a new number, a 1 stayed in the box, so 30 came out as 130. The box stays empty until you type the number you want. The same fix covers slot capacity on team events.

The event page catches up when you get a seat

  • FixedIn the phone app, an event page you already had open kept showing "You're on the waitlist" after the notification said you were in. The page now updates when a notification arrives, when you tap one, and when you go back to a page you opened earlier.

DragonSignUp is on Google Play

  • NewThere's an Android app. Search for DragonSignUp on Google Play and sign in with the account you already have. Practice reminders and waitlist news arrive as notifications, and sign-in links from your email open in the app.

Report a teammate from the directory

  • NewYou can report a teammate from your team's directory. Tap Report next to their name and pick a reason. Your team's admins get the report without your name, DragonSignUp replies to you within 24 hours, and the person you reported isn't told.

No give-up button while you're on the waitlist

  • FixedIf you were on an event's waitlist, the event page offered "Give up my spot" as if you held a seat. Tapping it took you off the waitlist. You now see that button only once you have a seat.
  • FixedOn an iPad, the notifications setting in your profile said "this phone". It now says "this device".

The top of the screen stays clear on iPhone

  • FixedIf you added DragonSignUp to your iPhone home screen, scrolling pushed the page up under the clock and the camera. That strip now stays blue, and the page scrolls beneath it.

Sign in with Apple on the website

v0.14.0

  • NewContinue with Apple is on the sign-in page. If you choose Hide My Email, Apple sends us an address we won't recognise, so sign in your usual way first and connect Apple from your profile.
  • BetterA new help page explains how to delete your account and what happens to your data. It's at dragonsignup.com/help/delete-account, and you don't need to sign in to read it.

Event times read like times in emails and notifications

  • FixedSign-up, waitlist and cancellation emails showed the event time as a raw timestamp, like 2026-09-25 18:15:00, and reminders added "UTC" to a time that wasn't UTC. Emails, notifications and texts now say Fri Sep 25 at 6:15 PM, the time your coach set.

You can edit pot-luck and volunteer events again

  • FixedYou couldn't save changes to a pot-luck or volunteer event. The form asked you to add a slot even when the event had several. You can change the time, title or location again, and your slots and sign-ups stay as they are.
  • FixedOn an iPhone, tapping a text box or a menu such as the team switcher zoomed the page in, and it stayed zoomed with the right edge cut off. Form fields on phones now use slightly larger text, so the page stays put.
  • BetterSwitch away from DragonSignUp for 30 seconds or more, and when you come back you'll see changes made elsewhere, such as a practice your coach just added from a laptop.

Support links work again

v0.13.5

  • FixedSupport in the app menu, and in the footer of the help pages, took you to a page that no longer exists. It now opens the form for a support ticket. We also took the Knowledge base link out of the site footer, since that page is gone too.

A bot check on new-team signup

  • BetterWhen you start a new team, Cloudflare now checks that a person is filling in the form. Most of you won't see it. Sometimes it asks you to tick a box first. A bot had been creating teams with strangers' email addresses, and those people were getting our welcome emails.

Connecting a sign-in method stays on your account

  • FixedConnecting Google or Apple from your profile keeps you on your own account. If that Google or Apple login already belongs to a different DragonSignUp account, the profile page now says so and nothing changes. Before, it signed you in as the other account without saying anything.

Two sign-in messages that said the wrong thing

  • FixedContinue with Google no longer shows a setup note under the button while you sign in. The note was meant for us, and it appeared whenever a sign-in was under way.
  • FixedIf you tap a sign-in link you already used while you are signed in, the page tells you that and links to My Events. It used to say the link had expired and send you to request another.

First-time Google sign-ups go through

  • FixedSigning up with Google for the first time now makes your account. The page asks whether you have used DragonSignUp before, and pressing No, this is my first time returned an error. If it turned you away, try again.

Fix your own name, and tap links in an event

v0.13.0

  • NewYou can change your own name. Open your profile and tap Edit beside it. Your coach may have typed it when they added you, and the roster and lineups show what is there.
  • NewWeb addresses in an event description are links. Coaches paste the full address, starting with https://, and paddlers tap it on the event page. Descriptions that already had one work now.
  • NewNew paddlers see a card on My Events that links to their paddling profile and to waitlist texts. It goes away once you save your paddling profile, and Not now hides it on that device. Texts stay optional.
  • BetterThe setup card on a crew's Overview page reminds coaches to add their boats, because you need one before you can seat a lineup.

Locking a lineup saves your seats

v0.12.1

  • FixedLock and Submit manifest now save your seats first. Before, only Save lineup stored them, so a coach who seated a boat and pressed Lock came back to empty seats. If you lost a lineup this way, you will need to seat it again.
  • BetterThe lineup editor shows an Unsaved changes label beside Save while the seats on screen differ from the stored ones. Your browser asks before you close the tab with unsaved seats.

Pay for Pro by the year, and ten founding places

v0.12.0

  • NewPro is $180 a year or $19 a month. Pick either on the billing page when you upgrade; the yearly button is first because most clubs budget once in spring. The billing page says which one you are on and when it renews.
  • NewCaptain's Council: ten clubs get the full Pro plan free until 31 December 2027, set up on a call with Katie, then $120 a year for two years instead of $180. We ask for two short calls, at 30 and 90 days. No card up front, no testimonial. The offer is on the pricing page; email hello@dragonsignup.com to ask for a place.
  • BetterThe billing page no longer offers the Club plan. It is paused while we work out what a multi-crew club needs; the contact card on the pricing page is how to tell us.

See the boat's balance as you seat it, and take one person off an event

v0.11.0

  • NewAdmins can take one person off an event. Remove sits beside each confirmed name on the admin event page. The seat goes to the next person on the waitlist, and the person you removed gets an email saying their organiser took them off. On a team event you can remove someone from one slot and leave their other slots alone, so you can empty a slot and then delete it.
  • NewThe lineup editor shows the boat's weight balance while you build it: left against right, front against back, crew total, average weight, and a picture of where the center of gravity sits. Move a paddler and you see the new numbers before you save.
  • NewFront-to-back balance counts how far each bench sits from the middle of the boat. A heavy paddler on bench 1 tips the bow more than the same paddler on bench 5, and the editor shows the difference. Your drummer and steersperson count too.
  • NewAn Engine room reading tells you whether your heaviest paddlers sit in the middle benches, where the hull is widest, or out at the ends.
  • BetterSuggest puts your heaviest paddlers in the middle benches and your lightest at the ends, keeps stroke-eligible paddlers on bench 1, and balances the boat left to right and front to back. It fills the boat from your whole roster when only some paddlers have answered, and leaves out anyone marked not coming.
  • BetterA paddler who hides their weight stays hidden. While one of them is in the boat, the editor shows balance as percentages and leaves out the weight totals, so nobody can work out their number by moving them around.
  • BetterA paddler with no weight entered counts at the average of the rest of the crew, and the editor marks those totals with ≈. With no weights at all, it balances by headcount.
  • BetterLineup warnings update each time you move a paddler. Before, they changed only when you saved or reopened the lineup. On a dragon boat they now say left, right and paddlers, where they used to say port, starboard and rowers.

Phone fixes for notes and the list view

  • FixedSign-up notes on the event page wrap on a phone. Before, a note longer than the space beside the name was cut off.
  • FixedThe My Upcoming, Available and All filters fit a phone screen. On a narrow phone the All count could sit past the right edge, and the counts were hard to see.

Sign up for a month at once, and stay signed in

  • BetterSigning up for several practices at once is easier to find. The List view says so above the checkboxes, the calendar has a button that takes you there, and your sign-up confirmation email points the way.
  • FixedYou stay signed in. Before, the app asked for your password again about a day after your last sign-in. Now a sign-in lasts 30 days.

One list, three filters

  • BetterThe List view on My Events and on each team page now has three filters: My Upcoming, Available, and All. Each shows how many events it holds, and you switch with one tap. Open is now called Available.

A hand getting your crew set up

  • NewNew clubs get a welcome email from Katie with the three steps that finish setup: post your first practices, add a couple of people by hand, then share the invite link. Reply to it and a person reads it.
  • NewYour crew's Overview page shows a setup checklist that ticks itself off as you go, and a one-line reminder follows you across the admin tabs until all three steps are done.
  • NewIf you run a crew with no practices posted yet, My Events says so and offers the practice form, instead of reading as if you were signed up for everything.
  • BetterA club that signs up and still has no practices three days later gets one email from Katie checking in. It goes out once.

A sign-in page instead of a blank one

  • FixedOpening an event, a team page, or an admin page after your session had lapsed could show a blank page reading "Application error". It now sends you to the sign-in page and tells you why.
  • BetterTeam calendars with a lot of upcoming events load faster.

Calendar or list, your pick

v0.9.0

  • NewMy Events and each team page now show either the calendar or the list, not both stacked. Switch with the tabs beside the page, or above it on a phone. The app remembers which one you picked.
  • BetterOpen an event and the Calendar and List tabs stay beside it, so one tap takes you back to the view you came from.
  • BetterYour own status on the calendar is easier to spot. Going is a solid green circle with a check, waitlisted is an amber ring with a clock, and both are bigger. The shapes differ, so they still read apart if green and amber look alike to you.
  • BetterA sharper app icon on your phone's home screen and in the browser tab.

Comparison pages and paddlers in their own words

v0.8.1

  • BetterTwo new pages compare DragonSignUp with TeamSnap and with SignUpGenius, feature by feature and on price, and say where the other tool is still the better choice. Find them in the home page FAQ and footer.
  • BetterThe home page now carries what paddlers told us in the September survey, in their own words, credited by first name and last initial.
  • BetterSee the app links to the coach guide and the paddler guide at the top of the page, so you no longer have to scroll to the footer to find them.

Google sign-in asks before making a second account

  • NewYour profile has a Connected accounts section. Connect Google there and you can sign in with it next time, on the same account, even when your Google address differs from the one your crew has for you.
  • BetterThe first time you sign in with a Google account we don't recognise, we ask whether you already have a DragonSignUp account before creating one. Say it's your first time and you're through. Say you have one and we send you to your usual sign-in, and Google connects from your profile afterwards.

Shared links show a card

  • BetterPaste a DragonSignUp link into your crew's group chat and you get a picture and a line saying what it is. Before, it came through as a blank grey box.
  • BetterThe preview on an invite link says you have been invited to a paddling team. It doesn't name the team, so a link forwarded past the people you meant it for gives nothing away.
  • BetterThe app icon and the logo are redrawn, so they stay sharp on a phone home screen and in the printed guides.

The availability count includes guests

v0.7.3

  • FixedOn an event with guests, the Availability card on the admin page counted only registered paddlers, so it disagreed with the roster underneath it. It now counts guests as going and says how many.

Adding seats fills them from the waitlist

  • FixedRaising the seat count on a full event now moves people off the waitlist straight away. Before, they stayed put until someone else cancelled.
  • FixedAdding a slot to a full pot-luck with people waiting used to be refused. It works now, and the people waiting move up.
  • FixedAfter your session expired, the sign-in page could say your password was wrong when you had typed it correctly. It now signs you in.
  • BetterChanging or resetting your password signs you out on every other device. Sign back in there with the new one.

Waitlist links open the event

  • FixedFollowing a waitlist link while signed out took you to your events list rather than the event itself. It now opens the event once you have signed in.
  • FixedThe email telling you a spot opened up on a practice or race carried no link to it. It does now, the same as the one for pot-lucks always has.

Get a text when a seat opens

v0.7.0

  • NewTurn waitlist texts on in your profile and we text you the moment a seat opens for you, as well as emailing. A promotion at 4pm for a 6pm practice is no use if you read it at 7, and a text gets read on the way to training. It is the only thing we text about. Reply STOP to any of them, or switch them off on the same screen.

DragonSignUp on your home screen

v0.6.0

  • NewAdd DragonSignUp to your phone's home screen and it opens like an app, with its own icon and no browser bar. Lose signal at the boathouse and you get a page that says so, rather than a blank error. On an iPhone, use Share then Add to Home Screen; on Android it is in the browser menu.
  • NewThis page. It lists what changed and the day it reached you, and we add to it every time we ship.
  • FixedAdding an event on a phone, the start and end time pickers sat on top of each other and you could not read either. They stack now.
  • FixedTurn a phone sideways and the header ran under the notch. On the signed-in pages the menu links also squeezed the team name down to nothing. Pages now stay clear of the notch, and the menu collapses to a button so the team name has room.

A support portal you can search

  • BetterEvery page now links to the support portal. Search the help articles there, or open a ticket and get a reply by email.

Delete your own account, and two guides worth printing

v0.5.0

  • NewYou can delete your account from your profile. Sign-in stops at once, any seat you hold goes back to the boat, and the next paddler on the waitlist takes it. There is no undo, and the page says so before you confirm.
  • NewThe coach guide and the paddler guide are on the site. Read either one in the browser, or download the PDF to print or hand to a committee.
  • NewOur lawyer has reviewed the Terms and the Privacy Policy. Both are published now and take effect on 30 September 2026, so you have the month to read them before anything changes.
  • FixedSigning up for a practice the day before sent you two emails within minutes: the confirmation, then a note asking whether you were still coming. Your sign-up already answers that, so the second one stopped. Pot-lucks and volunteer events never send it.

Passwords, second helpings, and login limits

v0.4.0

  • NewSet or change your password from your profile while you are signed in. If you have only ever used the Google button, you can add a password without going through a reset email.
  • NewTake more than one slot on the same event. A regatta volunteer can sign up for gate check-in and tear-down, and a pot-luck bringer can claim two dishes.
  • Fixed"Too many attempts" counted everyone's logins together rather than yours, so a busy evening across the platform could lock out a paddler who had typed one password once. Limits now count your own attempts.

Practice times read off your clock

  • FixedWhether an event has started is worked out on your device, in your timezone. Evening practices could show as past to some people and upcoming to others.

A way in when the invite link is buried

  • NewPaste an invite link at dragonsignup.com/join. The whole URL, the URL without https, or the code on its own all work, so someone can read it out at practice.
  • BetterIf you have no team yet, the home screen leads with joining one. Starting a new club is still there, one step down, where it stops catching paddlers who meant to join the club they already paddle for.

Finding your way back into your account

  • Better"Forgot your password?" now sits beside the password box, and signing in by email link is a full-width button under it. Both used to be small grey text below the Google button, off the bottom of a phone screen at the moment you were stuck.
  • FixedThe login page told some paddlers their password was wrong when it was right. It says what actually happened now.

One email address, one account

v0.2.3

  • FixedKate@ and kate@ are the same person. Capitalisation no longer decides whether you sign in or create a second, empty account.
  • FixedPaddlers who joined through Google can now add a password, so a phone with no Google session is not a locked door.

Typing your email on a phone

  • FixedPhone keyboards capitalised the first letter of your email address on the sign-in and sign-up forms. They no longer do.

No monthly cap on events for free teams

  • BetterPost as many practices as your season needs on the free plan. Four a month ran out inside the first fortnight for a crew training twice a week, which was the fortnight the habit forms in. Free covers 30 paddlers and 2 admins.

Recurring practices you can see and change

  • NewOpen a recurring series to see when it stops, and change that date without rebuilding the series. Each generated practice says it was auto-created and shows the date the series ends.
  • BetterThe recurring toggle says what saving will do: 60 days of dates now, topped up each night, stopping at your end date. Coaches were reading that rolling window as a series that had broken.
  • FixedEditing your sign-up note no longer costs you your seat. On a practice the note was write-once, so fixing a typo meant cancelling and signing up again behind everyone who had signed up since.
  • FixedAn event stays on the calendar for 72 hours after it starts. A 7pm practice used to vanish at 7pm, while paddlers were still checking where to be, and coaches read that as a deletion.

Giving up a seat, and a roster that shows the boat

  • BetterTelling us you can't make a practice you signed up for gives up your seat, and the first paddler on the waitlist takes it that moment. The old answer recorded your intention and left the seat frozen with your name on it.
  • NewThe coach's roster shows each paddler's preferred side with left and right totals, the notes people leave when they sign up, and the names of who isn't coming rather than a count.

Older than 2 August 2026 sits before the beta, when the crews using DragonSignUp could be counted on one hand and we told them directly.
