Why I built DragonSignUp
I paddle for the Pittsburgh Paddlefish. This is my fourth season and I still get excited at the start line.
DragonSignUp started because I got fed up with the ads on our SignUpGenius page. On the free plan they were everywhere, and they made a two-minute task feel like a chore. On top of that, we had people manually handling waitlists, juggling seats, and answering text messages every time someone needed to drop from practice.
That is a solvable problem, and I have spent 30 years solving problems like it. Most of that time was in tech, most recently at Microsoft, building software for people who needed something that worked.
So I built what our team needed. You want to know if you have a seat. You want the boat full on race weekend. Sign up, someone drops, and the next person on the list gets the seat. Steerspersons see the boat before they get to the dock.
Dragon boat racing keeps me fit, gets me on the water, and puts me with my favorite people. Twenty paddlers hitting the same catch is a feeling I have not found anywhere else.
I still paddle every season. When something in DragonSignUp annoys me on a Tuesday night, I fix it. If it annoys you, tell me.

Where we are now
DragonSignUp is a small team building roster and race management software for dragon boat clubs. We started with the Pittsburgh Paddlefish and are signing up new teams.
